Preparing Students for Successful, Secure Futures: CV Provides Practical Programs for Future-Ready Graduates

On-campus and off, our Canyon Valley students are gaining real-world experiences and creating connections that are preparing them for careers and successful futures after graduation.
On-campus, Susan Manning, teacher of 21st Century Business Practices and Entrepreneurship classes, facilitates connections between students and a variety of guest speakers – introducing students to trade-based careers in in-demand fields. Already this year, students have heard from Dallas Miller with AZ Pipe Trades and Jane Vela with Landings Credit Union. Interacting with guest speakers on campus allows our students a low-stress environment to learn and ask questions about diverse career options and the practical, everyday adulting skills associated with each field. These discussions introduce students to career fields they may not otherwise look into, while providing opportunities to network with future employers and inviting exploration into a variety of life skills including homeownership, financial literacy, communication, and more.
“Canyon Valley takes pride in providing opportunities like this to our students,” says Susan Manning. “We want them to be exposed to knowledge and skills that help them create a successful, secure future where they are living the lives they want while being productive members of society who can take care of themselves.”
CV students are also gaining real-world experience off-campus while participating in the school’s Bt700 Business Internship program. Designed to enhance the learning already being done in classes like Ms. Manning’s, the internship program provides students an opportunity to practice the skills they are learning on-campus while earning elective credit as they work jobs off-campus. The credits also count toward students’ GPS CTE credit requirement.
