Ryan Files

A good teacher is many things, and Mr. Files is just that. Mr. Files has been teaching for three years, and hopefully will continue to for many more. He likes to play video games or go fishing in his free time. Mr. Files likes to play Marvel Rivals and is hoping to get better at it. He also enjoys sports games like NCAA Football. Mr. Files has a 2003 Honda Goldwing and has ridden it from Illinois to Arizona and from Arizona to Colorado. He has also traveled to Northern California on it and, in general, enjoys taking long trips on his motorcycle. Mr. Files doesn’t have a specific favorite song, but one of his favorite genres is ’90s R&B. Outside of school, he enjoys writing poetry and teaching kids about the best ways of writing.

Before he became a teacher, Mr. Files worked in business for 15 years. He worked in supply chain, housing logistics, and managed businesses that held and stored products for grocery stores before shipping them out. Mr. Files decided to become a teacher because he wanted to give back to the community. He was tired of being in the business world and wanted to use what he had learned over the years to teach students. His favorite sport is football because he grew up with it during his childhood, and he supports the Chicago Bears.

Adrian Aguilar, a junior at Canyon Valley, has Mr. Files as a teacher. Aguilar said he likes Mr. Files because he likes the way he teaches. He appreciates how Mr. Files teaches slowly so everybody gets a chance to write everything down. It helps him think better and understand things step by step. He says he likes how Mr. Files does group activities, so no one is ever alone in his class. Adrian says he enjoys Mr. Files because he doesn’t have a short temper and won’t get mad at you if you don’t understand an assignment. Adrian has Mr. Files for English II. He said Mr. Files helps students succeed by being someone they can talk to for personal issues or advice, and that he cares a lot about their grades.

Sergio Torres, a sophomore at Canyon Valley, also has Mr. Files as a teacher. Torres said he likes Mr. Files because he is very encouraging and motivates the class to do their work and collaborate with their peers. Sergio says his favorite thing about Mr. Files’ class is that he does a lot of group work and lets students choose their groups, allowing them to work with people they are comfortable with. Torres says he enjoys Mr. Files because he has a great personality, is patient, and interacts with the class often. He laughs a lot and creates a positive classroom environment. Sergio has Mr. Files for English II and said Mr. Files helps him succeed by checking if students need help and always being willing to assist them with their problems.
