The first-ever district-wide GPS College & Career Fair, held on Monday, October 28th at Gilbert High School, offered students a unique opportunity to connect with a wide range of educational institutions and industry professionals, all in one place. So, how did the GPS College and Career Fair “fare” up? Here’s what some of the college and career representatives had to say.

David Hernandez, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University:
“District-wide college and career fairs bring a different energy - the fair is busy and students are excited! These fairs bring a fantastic opportunity for students to explore colleges and degree programs that they might not have known existed. I encourage all high school students to come to these, you never know what you might find.”

Joshua Adamowich, Western New Mexico University:
“This district-wide college and career fair is a lot more extensive when it comes to interacting with parents and students together. Students are always enthusiastic when talking about college, especially at GPS, and parents tend to ask some really important questions like scholarships and paying for college, what the process of going to college looks like, and things like that.”

Kelly Dixon, Maricopa County Human Resource:
“This has been a really nice experience and everyone has been very friendly. When we come to these fairs, we hope to tell students about the different career paths that are available to them so they can start thinking about post-graduation.”

Nadine Virgadaula, Villa Siena:
“These college and career fairs offer a great opportunity for both students and businesses alike. Students learn about all the different options they have and we get to connect with them about potential internship or employment opportunities.”
